    I just had my 2nd KIA piston soak done on my car after KIA America didn't want to give me a new engine after 1st piston soak fail. Car now has 69K. 1st piston soak was done at 66K I had them do an EPR 109 flush before each piston soak and had them fill with Valvoline R & P after 2nd soak. Have to wait another 1 k miles for result. I am revving WOT the engine a few times each work commute to try to break piston rings loose.

    I don't usually comment on videos, but I just wanted to say this is one to the best explanations I have seen on this process. I love how you walk through your thought process of planning the job as part of the video; even what you would have done differently. Sometimes the why is just as important as the how. You touch on all the little things. Your videos are really great. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    I would highly suggest replacing y our PCV Valve if you haven't yet. It's a wear item and the amount of things you've been putting stuff in here tells me it's prolly clogged or not resisting correctly as that spring might be wore out. Also, the amount of carbon and crap you've burned out of that engine and the chemicals you're burning goes through your cats and some through the evap system. If you replace your cat, the PCV Valve, then you'll prolly be fine on the engine light.

    I have 2007 Tacoma 2.7L and I'm having the same issue. My dash battery light came on. I replaced the alternator and the battery read 12.3V but the alternator was fluctuating ranges from 11.2 to 14.3. It sucks that a new alternator from ebay would do this. I'm going to a nearby junk yard and pickout a used alternator. Thanks.

    I found a company out of Australia FTC decarbonizer... its not cheap but dang we were impressed. The crankcase cleaner with fresh oil & then replaced the filter & oil b4 driving. The topend cleaner goes in the fuel & burns all or most of the carbon away from the top side. They now have an outlet in Utah. I now use it religiously! If the engine being treated was ever over heated & the rings loose their temper.... it will still smoke but nothing like b4.

    Also this is going to loosen up and burn a lot of the carbon off inside of your combustion chamber and your exhaust manifold as well as,. next time since the spark plugs are out why don't you use to start at a cranky engine over five times: instead of procrastinating you don't need to sit there and make a long video take a picture of it so you'll have before and after pictures of the cylinders okay come on let's become more proficient, why don't you do a checklist like you're doing the military all the mechanics do check make sure your wrenches and tools are not under the engine or in the engine compartment make sure your battery connections are reconnected just make a list of what you need to check and do before and after okay come on let's become more of a professional mechanic, also you want to use some starter fluid when you first start to start your vehicle back up since you're going to have difficulty starting at use that to assist your engine and starting on the intake also you don't need to be like a sports announcer and say everything that comes into your mind? We all know that when you use cleaning fluids in your engine it's going to take a while to get rid of the smoke this is common if you used any seafoam or any of the intake manifold and exhaust cleaners this is a common practice and it does this So what had rather than sound like a sports announcer and blah blah blah just give us nothing but the facts okay: Walmart CURBSIDE Pick up today Restore 4-Cylinder Formula Engine Restorer and Lubricant - 9 oz. $7.97 Walmart 4.6 Since you're out driving and testing and stop by Walmart and get some engine restorer for your piston rings 4 Daniel oil, I've used this to restore compression and it works without a doubt! I would suggest you clean a spark plugs and use a very fine or small file if you got something about the size that you would use to Gap your plugs very small thin file also a wire wheel helps to clean off the grounding electrode as well as well as the threads,. Also since you have a vertical filter pre-fill your filter with oil before reinstalling it common silicone I can see these initial reviews or this video was at least a year ago so you should be checking back in on this video every month and see what people are rioting in and suggestions? The engine restore I have used on a 95 Lincoln Continental and I can tell you that I've got 100% results and compression restoration so if you want to bring your oil usage down to zero you need to try the engine restore! There is also a product called Blue Devil that's used for restoring compression by sealing the head gasket and the heads! And you have to follow directions exactly to the letter it may require two treatments but I use this on a previous car rather than getting the heads redone and head gaskets at that time but it was the best thing that I ever found to restore the compression and the heads along with the head gaskets considered a permanent sealer semicolon, if you want some advice on something to reduce the friction and where inside of your engine especially the piston piston rings valves cams transmission differential give me a shout out back on here so that I can see that there's a comment or somebody wanting some feedback on this on my comments and I will be glad to let you know what that product is

  • @petershulick5270
    @petershulick5270 2 дні тому

    The high pitch whine in the background in your video is so annoying I had to turn everything off my TV my fan thinking it was coming out of my house semicolon you overfill the cylinders because when the Piston gets to the top there's no more room for the chemical and it's going to squirt out through the spark plug hole! You should have used less of that and considered leaving it sit overnight call Mom I'm curious why you just didn't use the starter to turn the engine over and hit the key so it would turn the engine over one rotation each time and limit the amount of chemical you put in the engine cuz you have no room left at the top of the cylinder you should have only put maybe 1/4 of what you used? That's correct you're diluting the oil with berryman's B12 and you can use that to loosen up any sludge in your engine I would let it run for 15 or 20 minutes and consider doing an oil change

  • @MichaelCzajka
    @MichaelCzajka 2 дні тому

    You should do an oil analysis. It would tell you if there is fuel in the oil... which would tell you if the rings were allowing fuel to bypass the rings... which is a simple way of telling if they're stuck. Oil analysis would also tell you where wear is occurring... and that might also help identify where the problem is occurring. 🙂 P.S. Ethanol in the fuel oxidises and polymerises to forms a sludge that is really hard to remove (won't dissolve in normal solvents)... and may be the main reason why the rings get stuck.

  • @CJManning86
    @CJManning86 2 дні тому

    So this method you used with Berryman's also works with Seafoam. Seafoam, people just approach it differently. But the soaking you did was so important to free the low pressure oil rings and more around the pistons, plus you burned off all the carbon on the valves and their seats and pistons most likely. The best way to keep this going strong would be to use some Marvel Mystery Oil in your crank every oil change, and some berryman's in the tank or just the same mystery oil.

    Had a saturn 1.9 that used a similar amount. Rebuilt the engine, dipped the pistons in a chemtool carb bucket. Still has to scrape the ring lands pretty hard to remove the buildup. i would guess there is no chemical/additive/oil that will be able to clean the buildup behind rings.

    Give Valvoline Restore & Protect a try. Based on what The Motor Oil Geek video showed, it looks like a promising product. I'll be trying it out on my '06 Mustang GT with 345k to see if it will reduce oil consumption. I've already replaced the stem seals. Compression is still good. Hope just stuck rings. Also, based on his video on oil additive products, its no surprise that none of them had any discernible improvements. I've certainly had no luck with them. ua-cam.com/video/kyyZDghgdCI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/CAGT5inQScE/v-deo.html

    So I believe the piston ring land can never be cleaned with anything pour in. The ring lands are cemented in pace. It's like pouring concrete down the sink. Once it cures there is no liquid that can clear it out.an Th Satrun S was an oi consuming machine. Supposedly the oil return holes in the lands were too small. People would enlarge them during a rebuild. Loved all the methods used in this endeavor.

    Change your thermostat. The engine is not at operating temperature (open loop keeps mixture richer, diluting your with excessive unburnt gas washing oil off your cylinder walls). With a properly functioning thermostat engine clearances might tighten up (because your engine is at operating temperature) to cut the oil consumption give better gas mileage with a computer controlled closed loop. Also try a heavier weight oil instead of 5W-30, use 10W-30.

    I have a 2008 Rav4 with 350,000 miles. It has the Corolla engine. It was burning a quart every 500 miles. I did 2 treatments of inexpensive Gumout Tuneup w/Carbon Clear. Performance greatly increased, I gained 2 to 3 mpg, and oil cosumption is down to around a quart per 3,000 miles. Maybe I got lucky, but it sure seems like a inexpensive magic bullet.

  • @strshooter7399
    @strshooter7399 4 дні тому

    Well! Wow, you’ve been diligent and through in trying just about every “inexpensive” magic fix that didn’t require full or partial disassembly of engine/head etc. . (I didn’t review the new valve seals videos, so you did do some parts removal after all…) . Being a backyard mechanic for a number of years, I could continue to guess like the other 947 commenters on what the”Real” problem is. If your goal is to eliminate or lower oil consumption to under a quart/liter per 1K miles you going to have to rebuild the shirt block, with a solid valve job with new seals & guides if it uses them. A manufactured engine is usually cheaper than rebuilding it yourself (with your selection of a good machine shop). Still, the cheaper remanufactured engine don’t always have a great rep… . A lot to consider, how much longer do I intend to keep the car? 5 years, 10?. Does rebuilding or remanufactured engine fit my budget? I at first saw all that oil in the combustion chamber & the oil fouled plugs, head job for sure, new seals, yada yada. But, since you changed the seals already, you need a rebuilt head & short block. Pulling it apart is the only way to know what’s the issue (besides being just mileage which is what I think). Not every Japanese engine goes the 250k miles+ without an overhaul. Not everybody lives to 99 years old either🤷‍♂️. It happens… good luck, God Bless.

    Im loving this series so far. I did the berrymans b12 treatment on my Girlfriend's Vw Tiguan. I seen other people do it on the 2.0 TSI. What I did different. I let the car idle for 15 minutes with the chemtool in the oil. Then i changed it. After that i ran another can in the fuel tank. And did a lot of hard driving. High rpm and load will also help unstick rings, in combination with a cleaner in the fuel. After about an hour of flogging it. The TSI is running better than it ever has. I will uodate on the oil consumption. Oil consumption was a quart every 800-1000 miles. If this doesnt work. Its probably the valve seals.

My PRV failed a few weeks ago so I called and called only to find out there were 2 plumbers willing to come out but both were 2 weeks out at a minimum and the price range was from $800-$1,200. I bought a new PRV, a new shutoff valve since I didn't have one already, and these adapters because the water line is 3/4" black poly and I connected it to PEX all for under $200 and it works well!
